Social Responsibility
Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium is based between the coast and the rolling Clevland Hills and we always aspire to conduct our business ethically and with sensitivity towards social, cultural, economic, and environmental issues.
Respect our environment & support our community
The crematorium is built on over 10 acres of land within situated between Kirkleatham and Yearby, in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, just off the A174.
We support the community’s economy by employing local people from the area who know their communities well. We source materials from local suppliers and we use local tradespeople whenever possible.
We are part of the Horizon Cremation Group and we take our social responsibilities extremely seriously.
ESG – short for Environmental, Social and Governance – is a set of standards measuring our impact on society, the environment and how transparent and accountable we are.
In 2022 / 2023 we developed a sustainability strategy, based on the framework of the ESG methodology, to measure our performance as we develop and grow our operations. You can access the full report here.
We are in the process of finalising our latest ESG report and aim to publish it soon.
Supporting in our charity partners
As a member of the ICCM re-cycling of metals scheme, we are able to donate vital funds to local Hospices and other important charities.
Staff and public donations also raise money for local charities and every pound raised is matched by the crematorium.
To date Horizon has donated well over £120,000 to local good causes, including to Hospices, cancer care charities and food banks.
